Treat Accessibly - Ways to befriend kids with disabilities
Here Are Some Other Ways You Can
Be Friends With Kids wit h Disabilities!
You can eat lunch with them at school and play with them at recess and at other
places.
You can tell them you are having a birt hday and ask if they want to come.
You can share with your parents that you want more friends with disabilities in
your life and ask for their help.
You can tell kids who might not be sure about playing with someone who is
diff erent about how they like to do the same things you do. They just might do it
diff erently.
You can invite them to your home and play outside or get some help from a
grownup to create a safe and accessible area in your home, or your parent can
come with you to visit them at their home.
It is import ant to be patient with friends with disabilities, just like with other
friends. It may take them longer to do things, or they may want your help. Being
kind and helpful helps everybody, and if you have a disability, you would like
people to be nice to you and be your friend.
Friends are import ant. Being kind and helping all kids feel included is the best!
